Kenosha Foodies

Kenosha Foodies is a food club in Kenosha, WI that meets monthly and is hosted on a rotating basis by it's members. The idea is to cook and eat great food and have fun doing it. The host selects a theme for the evening and creates and prepares the menu. Anything goes. Pushing out of the comfort zone is encouraged.

As the "male" stranded sister, I could not agree more. A heartfelt thanks to the Wynia's for the extensive research and attention to detail that went into our last repast. It's difficult for me to identify a favorite item from the extensive menu. If pressed, I would have to say that the chicken mole was probably most impressive, merely because of the ingredients and time involved ( not to mention it was delicious). The enchiladas were among the very best I have ever had, even in Juarez. All three salsa recipes were stand out dips, but the mango recipe was truly one to repeat. Thanks for posting the ingredients, Don. We will begin researching menu items for our next gather and will post a tentative menu in the coming weeks. Again, Thanks!

Ready for next time?

What does this say to you? Mmmmmmm mmmmmm Good!
We're looking at a New England repast. We are anxious to start looking for some traditional coastal dishes. Stay tuned for the menu in full.
(I guarantee it WON'T be from a can)

One 'foodie' to another...

Wooooo hoooooo!
What a great Mexican Fiesta we had!
It was a very good time with some very good friends.
I have to say that my favorites of the evening were the enchiladas- Outstanding!
A bit of zip in the chicken every now and then, Just what my tastebuds ordered.
The Mango salsa was a fabulous sweet and spicy treat.
Not too much heat. Sure wish that I had a picture to post so everyone could enjoy the visual.
Next time.

Mexican Night (Jan 06) Hosted at the Wynia's

Menu
Chicken Enchiladas
Chicken Mole
Carne Asada
Tomato and Corn Salsa
Mango Salsa
1 Fresh Mango cubed
1 Tbls Fresh Cilantro
Juice of one lime
2 Tbls olive oil
1 roasted jalepeno seeded and diced fine
Salt and pepper to taste
Guacamole
Spiced Ground Beef
Tostadas
Tacos
Flan
Sangria
Margaritas

Served buffet style. We started with chips and salsa then piled the plates high with tacos, tostadas, chicken mole, etc. For desert we turned the flan out onto desert plates. Mmmm... custard and caramel. Hard to beat it.

Impressions
I thought everything turned out fairly well. The mole sauce was very flavorful but perhaps not worth the effort. The mango salsa turned out well and I also liked the enchiladas.

Good food. Great company!
