Well, while you are pondering these things, here is a preview of our selected menu...
We'll start the evening with spicy Somosas as appetizers. Next we'll move to a Creamy Prawn Soup. The main course will consist of Tandoori Chicken and Masaledar Sem served on a bed of Basmati Rice. Mmmmmmmmmmm. The finishing course will be Kheer, complete with Rose Water ( what the heck is that? Our Lilac isn't even blooming yet!)

April Fools, maybe, but no fool, Don!

Well, folks, it may have been April Fools Day but there was certainly nothing foolish about the culinary choices made by this months host, Mr. Don Wynia. Our repast started off with a goat cheese and herb spread drizzled with extra virgin on either crackers or fresh vegetable. Excellent! The spread was perfectly herbed and had a flavor somewhat stronger than the milder spreads available in most restaurants or packaged spreads. I also found the lemon zest in the spread a very nice change from the norm. This was accompanied by an outstanding reisling wine recommended by our friends an Sommelier. Again, they were right on the money. Following the appetizer we were brought to the table to admire a picture perfect presentation of the osso buco and saffron risotto with fresh field greens and dressing. I'm still marvelling at the tenderness and flavor of both the osso buco and the risotto. It truly was delicious. To say you could cut the meat with a fork is an understatement. This was by far the most tender beef I have had in a long while, and the braised tomato and spice base was spot on. After dinner, we were joined by Dan Brooks, neighbor and friend, for dessert. If you scroll down you will see a picture of this masterpiece of a cake. It is a four layer cake with copious amounts of fresh fruit. I'm normally not much of a dessert person but this was one fine cake! In summation I have to say that my hat is off to you guys, Don and Peggy. Truly a wonderful meal and a great time. Thank You! You make this group a true pleasure and also a challenge. One that I gladly accept. Tentatively, we are planning on an Asian menu for our next gather. More on that later. Good night and good luck.
